Every 40 seconds someone in the United States experiences a heart attack. When someone is experiencing a heart attack or the heart stops functioning (cardiac arrest), every second counts. Knowing how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can help to recirculate the blood to vital organs when the heart is unable to work on its own.
In certain situations, an automatic external defibrillator (AED) can help to reset the normal rhythm of an individual’s heart when someone is in cardiac arrest. Knowing when to use an AED is a critical part of the chain of events to help someone survive a cardiac arrest.
At our fitness facility, our team is trained on how to deliver high-quality CPR through quality programs offered by credible organizations including the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association®. In addition, AEDs are located within the facility to help ensure they can be accessed quickly, when needed.
We encourage you to be ready during an emergency by taking a CPR/AED class. Visit redcross.org or aha.org to learn more.
